چکیده
Understanding forest genetic diversity and national legislation on trade utilization of reproductive material (FRM) are key aspects for management adapting forests to climate change. Despite concerns about the negative effects change forests, awareness role in adaptation is limited. Adaptive strategies such as afforestation reforestation depend selection appropriate FRM their knowledge among relevant stakeholders. To analyze perceptions forest, conservation, nursery managers six Central European countries practical legislative issues A survey was conducted with structured questionnaires. Around 80% respondents believe Local preferred reforestation. Although conservation perceive importance diversity, almost half them feel unaware it. The majority that seed transfer not adapted Inadequacy policies likely influence Europe.

متن کاملInvestigating afforestation and bioenergy CCS as climate change mitigation strategies
The land-use sector can contribute to climate change mitigation not only by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, but also by increasing carbon uptake from the atmosphere and thereby creating negative CO2 emissions. In this paper, we investigate two land-based climate change mitigation strategies for carbon removal: (1) afforestation and (2) bioenergy in combination with carbon capture and s...
متن کاملThe Impact of Climate Change on Lakes in Central Europe
In Europe, the effects of global warming are expected to be particularly acute in areas exposed to a more extreme continental climate. The climate change scenarios summarized in Chapter 2, this volume, suggest that the average summer temperatures in some areas of Central Europe could increase by as much as 6 ◦ C by 2071–2100. The associated projections for the rainfall give even more cause for ...
متن کاملClimate change mitigation: A spatial analysis of global land suitability for clean development mechanism afforestation and reforestation
Within the Kyoto Protocol, the clean development mechanism (CDM) is an instrument intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while assisting developing countries in achieving sustainable development, with the multiple goals of poverty reduction, environmental benefits and cost-effective emission reductions. The CDM allows for a small percentage of emission reduction credits to come from affor...
متن کاملEurope adapts to climate change: Comparing National Adaptation Strategies
For the last two decades, European climate policy has focused almost exclusively on mitigation of climate change. It was only well after the turn of the century, with impacts of climate change increasingly being observed, that adaptation was added to the policy agenda and EU Member States started to develop National Adaptation Strategies (NASs). This paper reviews seven National Adaptation Stra...
